luna is the cute black kitty with the golden crescent moon on her forehead that reveals to usagi that she (usagi that is) is sailormoon. luna is sailormoon's cat guardian, and is very good at giving advice. she is a good leader, wise, and.. if she was human, she'd be the purr-fect best friend for usagi, because she is around usagi's age.

luna is not an earth cat, she is from the planet mau, which is a planet of cat-people. she can speak "human", and is very intelligent. luna was kind of like queen selenity's counselor in the time of the old moon kingdom. when the kingdom was destroyed, selenity sent luna (and the other moon cat and all the senshi) to earth, so luna could rediscover the senshi and get them fighting evil forces again.

the sailormoon superSS movie revolves around luna... she falls in love with a human astronaut named kakeru. right near the end of the movie (spoiler alert!) sailormoon grants luna's one wish... to become a human being. luna turns into a beautiful woman with long black hair, and an elegant, golden-yellow dress. then she flies up into space with kakeru and kisses him deeply. i cry every time i see it ^^;;

in the future, luna and artemis (sailor v's guardian cat) have a lil kitten, whose name is diana. diana drops into the past, and "hugs" artemis, telling him that she is his daughter. when luna finds out, she's maaaad! luna thinks that artemis had another girlfriend who is diana's mother. eep! at the end, though, everything is straightened out, and they become a happy family.
